I was a Royal Engineer in the british army for over 9 years have lots of mates who are army chippys, building and structural finishers, plumbers etc etc the training you'll receive in Chatham 1 RSME is only one aspect of a military career and is always secondary to being a soldier and Royal Engineer. That being said having a trade is a massive advantage if you chose to leave the forces after your minimum time. Be aware tough certain trades come with restrictions meaning once the army has spent a lot of money training you they will extend your minimum service by up to 2 years.

P.S. your being paid a full wage whilst your doing this and the drinking in chatham is Immensee
References :
i have no experience myself but have friends who do

the army gives you more experience than you would otherwise get and so i think its a worthwhile venture so long as you look at what ese being in the army entials

also, ignore negative comments. if others dont agree with the military, thats their problem. weigh up the pros and cons yourself. talk to anyone you can with military experience and ask them the pros and cons. dont rely on pacifists etc as they are clearly biased.
